Research profile The research in the group is focused on understanding the cross-talk between metabolism and transcriptional regulation of gene expression with a particular focus on pancreatic β-cells, adipocytes and adipocyte differentiation. The group is particularly interested in the function, regulation and mechanism of action of transcription factors of the peroxisome proliferator activated receptors (PPARs) family. We have recently established high throughput sequencing for the use in genome-wide mapping of transcription factors and epigenetic marks and have used this to map transcriptional chromatin and transcriptional changes during differentiation and in response to nutrients. Finally, the Mandrup laboratory has a long-standing interest in lipid binding proteins and has generated conventional as well as tissue specific targeted disruption of the acyl-CoA binding protein (ACBP) in mice.
