Richard D Bagnall is a Research Officer working at the Centenary Institute, Sydney. His research interests over the past 16 years have centred around the genetic basis of inherited diseases, with a focus on novel gene discovery and characterisation of mutations. RB gained his PhD at King’s College London, UK, with the development of a rapid mutation detection strategy that was subsequently applied to one third of the UK haemophilia A population.

Since 2008 he has worked in the Agnes Ginges Centre of Molecular Cardiology at the Centenary Institute where his focus is on novel gene discovery and mutation characterisation in cardiomyopathy, valvular heart disease and sudden cardiac death using family based linkage analysis and exome sequencing.
